Weekend Getaway #1

This week we ordered a new Go Pro 10, with the commitment to each other, that we will use it regularly on our adventures, for content on our blog. A visual way to journal/photograph our time spent together. We love getting outdoors and both love taking photos of the numerous things we come across in nature like fungi, flowers, animals, plants, waterfalls...

Unfortunately the go pro didnt arrive in time to use on our fab weekend away. Instead we used my phone to document little moments of our adventure. We also used this time to gather inspiration about how we can approach this challenge we have given ourselves.

I'm a little camera shy so i practiced speaking to the camera a bit more. But mainly we compared how much easier it will be with a go pro. Using a phone we missed alot of  entertaining moments like my horror movie scream when i was only a foot away from a tiger snake, or when Todd loses the paddle board fin, those really candid moments.that are the gold of content.

2021 has been an interesting year for everyone, we have tried to make the best of it. We both work weekends frequently so we try to make the most of our time off together. This weekend past we treated ourselves to a well needed whole weekend away, to an Airbnb. We didnt go too far from home so our time was not spent in the car. But you don't need to travel  far becaue we already live in paradise.

We live on the East Coast of Australia at Sapphire Beach, so he headed west to the Coff Coast Mountain Retreat in Lowanna. It was the perfect choice for us. I have been desperate for a spa bath for a very long time so that box was ticked, Todd loves making a fire, the cabin had both.

At dusk we relaxed in the spa on the verandah, it appeared we were right next to a bird highway, we saw Currawong, magpie, kookaburra, pee wee, a flock of king parrots which darted back and forth before finding a roost in a big meeting tree in front of the cabin. Also a superb fairy wren, honeyeaters and the sounds of whipbirds and doves.

We both love the sound of nature especially at night when the frogs really get musical, the cabin definately provided evening entertainment. We popped on our gumboots and head torches and walked down to the billabong. Is was alive with fauna, swamp wallabies and bandicoots on the walk down, and a chorus of frogs. Todd has alot of frog and bird knowledge and rattles off the names of almost everything he hears and sees when we are in nature.
